Seth and other astral beings
I had read Autobiography of a Yogi many times and it seemed interesting. And other books that talked about the Astral Plane and other dimensions and levels of reality. I definitely considered it but it was just intellectual. But a couple of times "something" touched me, something beyond this world.
Even then, with no explanation, I didn't know how to think about it. So I would keep thinking in familiar ways that didn't really include anything astral.
Not until I came into contact with my first teacher did it all become commonplace and logical (in a new way).
My first "encounter" with him was from one of his books. Something in me awakened just reading his words. And the more I read the more I understood him and ideas that had never occurred to me before. And I changed and became a better person. Not a more conscious person or if I did it didn't register.
When it did register was when I went to live on his ashram. Driving in, I could feel him and his community a mile away. This was new, this much awareness. And it was always there from that moment onward. I could feel energy and especially the energies of other people.
In other ways, the community was not for me at all. I definitely didn't fit in nor was I going to. There is much more to this story, but that's it in a nutshell. And I left. And I still had that awareness. 45 years later I still have it.
Now this is a quality of the astral plane. This kind of awareness. There is much more but it takes a long time to fold this awareness into the rest of you. As long as it takes. For me, I've had deeper experiences but I'm in no rush.
One experience that helped me was encountering a person who was beyond this world. Who's body was not physical as best as I could tell and who had abilities far beyond anything I can wrap my brain around. So I don't try.
So then I knew there was life beyond the physical body. The next year I read about Seth who was using Jane Roberts to speak thru. Seth lived on some Astral Planet. And wanted to help others to become more aware.
Prior to my own encounter, I probably would have dismissed them as frauds. But I couldn't so I read his books to see if they could help my understanding. Now I want you to know that I'm really not that much of an intellectual. I'm a very physical guy. Life to me is all about the senses and being tactile. So I'm not so sure that Seth really helped me at all. I'm not sure if he has helped any really because he treid to help people thru words and I'm not sure that is possible.
So why am "I" trying help using words? Well, without having you right in front of me it is all I have and I have been helped by words, but I think more in a matter of clarification than actually deepening my awareness. But also, I think you need both.
I had one man who I talked to online for 10 years and he wasn't technically my student. I suppose that relationship is necessary in order to not get into a situation of arguments and comparing notes. And he did argue with me and wasn't respectful enough to really learn anything from me. I don't blame him, I should have made it clear what kind of relationship he needed to be in with me in order to get the information he wanted. He did want it, I did give it but he couldn't take it. Not that I am any kind of Ramana here, but someone asked him if he (Ramana) could give "it" to him. Ramana said yes, he could but could he "take" it? So it really boils down to attitude. I suppose I was so beaten down by life that when a genuine teacher came along that spoke my language, I was able to accept it from him. And this is what is required. Not necessarily to be beaten down, but the right attitude.
fuck you jackass
